But this evil step-mother knew nothing about Elle’s magic so therefore she was able to escape with the help of her little friend. Now Elle attends high school at West Lake Prep where humans mix with witches, shifters and fairies hiding away from her evil step-family. To help make ends meet Elle hunts stolen or missing jewelry for payment. At West Lake Elle meets the charming Alec Le Charme the heir to the Le Charme dynasty of high-end jewelers whom she has an instant crush on but with curses on both of their heads a love affair between these two is off limits, if so much as a little kiss passes between them then it could result in a war between witches and wizards. I loved the twist on the Cinderella story in Slippers And Thieves and adding magic was a special nice twist on the story along with all the action and romance. I also like that it has more than one paranormal creature like shifters, fairies and witches. The characters are all great and I really loved Elle with her snarky comments and how she went after what she wanted. I liked her little friend the mouse. I definitely recommend Slippers And Thieves to all fans of the magical world and fairy tale re-tellings.

The way the story is set up was unique. We have a backstory from three years previous that was all brand new information about both the main characters, and then the was the present story which takes part after the events of the previous 3 books (for the most part, there were a few repeat scenes thrown in but told from new perspectives which I enjoyed!). Yet there was enough filler to get the drift about what happened and a new mystery to solve here. I always recommend reading the previous books in a series so you don;t ever miss out, but in this case you could jump in here. I love that the author creates her own version of fairytale, all smooshed together to make something new and exciting. This story has all the necessary components of Cinderella (including magicking rags to a beautiful dress, glass slippers and mice friends) mixed with Alice in Wonderland (with a mischievous Cheshire cat and a Dangerous Queen of Hearts- who happens to be a vampire). We also have werewolves, tons of magic, ogres and trolls, curses, enchanted magic objects, conspiracy... Keep in mind that Alec is great, really he is...but I love Jacoby. He is mysterious, possibly dangerous and infatuated with Elle (for reasons!). It is like choosing vanilla ice cream when you can have cookie dough with caramel mixed in- easy choice, even if it is messy- and potentially life threatening. Ok, ok, he might not fit into Elle's Cinderella template or the whole love thing, but maybe he can have his own book (where he does terrible mischievous things). I am a big fan of this Dark Elf and need more...even if his intentions are terrible. I can't wait for the next book in the series, I am so hooked on this world and recommend this series for anyone who likes all things fairytale with big doses of mystery, magic, romance and action.

If there is such a thing as a perfect Cinderella story, this might just be the book. :) Elle is no pushover Cinderella. Knowing her life will follow the Cinderella template, she knows what comes next. Her mother will die and she will get an evil stepmother. But she is not a bystander. To make money, so she will have the means to escape, she retrieves stolen properties and returns them for a reward. It is an easy way to be independent, especially with her special little helpers. Now she is 18. She and Alex are getting closer but, but she is not ready to open her heart and it's like the entire world is against them. There is an evil plot to keep them far apart and will take everything they have, to win. It's one of those spelling books that take you by storm. From start to finish I was pulled into the world of fairytale templates & magic. The world and the characters are so vivid, they just jump out of the pages and I felt like I was there in the middle of the action. Also, the side characters were one of the best parts of the story, Gustav, Jacoby and The Queen of Hearts were my favorites. The pace intensifies, till the last part, when it all comes together in an epic ending. I can't wait for the next one. :) I've wanted to read Elle's story since the first book in the series and was not disappointed. It's my favorite in the series so far. received from Xpresso Book Tours

Slippers and Thieves unfortunately didn't work for me. This makes me so sad because I loved this series. The previous books were intricate and made me smile and laugh. They were impossible to put down and I was always glued to the pages. But Slippers and Thieves didn't even feel like the others books. It felt choppy and there were inconsistencies with the previous books. I'm not sure what happened, but the further I got into this story, the more it didn't work for me. It felt choppy and there were inconsistencies with the previous books. I'm not sure what happened, but the further I got into this story, the more it didn't work for me. I'm so sad because I loved these characters, ugh. So here were some of my problems with this story... ✮ Elle's Backstory Differs✮ In Shifters and Glyphs, Elle didn't know she was a Warden. Until the Colonel told her what she truly was, and she was shocked. But in this book, she knew she was a Warden even before she met Briar Rose or the Colonel. Her parents told her when she was little. Another inconsistency was that in this book, Elle said her parents took her wings. In the previous book, Colonel said he took her wings. It was so she could change the way she looked and escape the captors who imprisoned her since they knew she was the warden of fae magic. But that doesn't line up with the history we're given about her in this story - She was always with her parents, they took her wings in this book and she was never imprisoned when she was a child. Also in the previous books, Elle said that she couldn't use her magic or her family would find her. But in this book, she couldn't use her magic because the fae would kill her if they found out she was their Warden. ✮ Missing Houses✮ In the first book, Wolves and Roses, Elle said she had other safe houses. Besides the cabin. Yet in this book, when they have to find a place to stay, she only says she has her place in the village. Where are the other safe houses? Why weren't they mentioned? And even though her cabin burnt down, she was supposed to have it rebuilt with the insurance money. The cabin wasn't even mentioned once in this story. ✮ Where's The Money✮ I don't get how Elle had two houses in the first book. Yes she returns stolen jewels to their rightful owner, but in this book she gets paid a few hundred dollars here and a few hundred dollars there. How did she afford two houses, especially one in the village? She couldn't access the money she saved, so I don't get it. ✮ Gustav✮ In the movie Cinderella, she was kind and friends with the mice. She had saved and fed them, in exchange they did favors for her. But in this book, Elle continually asked Gustav for help and why he kept coming back was beyond me. It always left a bitter taste in my mouth that she expected him to help and she never did anything back in return. Except that one time. But even that one time, she threatened him with something he hates. Not nice. ✮ Things That Made Me Say Why✮ I don't get why her dad said they needed the future step sisters help in their shop. Especially when he said they couldn't survive without them. Not only did he cover one of their shifts in the shop that left him frazzled, but they never did any work from what we saw. They just hid in the back. What was the point of that conversation between Elle and her dad? ✮ More Questions✮ In the previous books, Alex says his parents will pay a scholarship and give the girls an apartment in their building. But in this book, his mom was shocked they went to the same school and it wasn't even mentioned that they helped give the girls their apartment. The mom didn't even realize they were living there. Also, in the first book, Elle was in Alec's office. People saw them together and it was such a huge deal they had to escape. But in this story we learn how his moves were being watched. Nothing was said to his mom, how did she not know? There were so many more issues than this, but these were the ones that bothered me the most. If you can't tell, I struggle when there are inconsistencies in a story. Especially when it feels like I'm reading a beta version in a finished copy. So I'm sad to be walking away from this series. But when I constantly get pulled out of a story for hiccups, it doesn't matter how fabulous the characters are, I just can't go on. *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. books are love

This book is just as sassy, snarky, adventurous and imaginative as the rest in this series. I love the take on the fairy tales Christina Bauer has taken. They are imaginative and entertaining. In this one we get the Cinderella template play out. Elle is a awesome heroine. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and she stands for herself. Elle has closed off her heart due to so much pain This book is just as sassy, snarky, adventurous and imaginative as the rest in this series. I love the take on the fairy tales Christina Bauer has taken. They are imaginative and entertaining. In this one we get the Cinderella template play out. Elle is a awesome heroine. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and she stands for herself. The ending has you wonder about one of her stepsisters though. What power does she hold within that no one knows. Elle has closed off her heart due to so much pain and disappointment she has had since her mom died. And her stepmom what a piece of work that woman is. Not as bad as Alec’s dad and mom but close. I love how Elle has risen above it and carved out her own life and continued school and making her parents proud. she fights for herself and those she cares for and is very loyal. The exchanges between her and Alec are entertaining and full of sass. Alec is the charming guy you sometimes wonder about only he is Prince Charming. He isn’t what I expected though. He cares for those that work for him and doesn’t chase the spotlight like his parents. Instead he runs from it and learns to become his own person. He has thoughts and views. I think under him LeCharme would rise further as a jewelry company. Those working for him would put more of an effort that is for sure because he shows them kindness, respect and is fair to them. His best friend is a wolf and watching them interact is a hoot. He is a hero you root for and stand behind because he isn’t what he seems. He is smart, powerful and kind. He isn’t greedy and doesn’t come off as selfish and arrogant. He has seen the hate his parents have for each other and doesn’t want that in his life. I felt so bad for him with the ends his parents went to and go to to keep him from love. They are horrible. But seeing him with elle and how they have that snarky sassy banter and just play off each other and yet respect and support each other as they fight their attraction or as Elle denies the attraction is awesome and entertaining. And the Queen of Hearts was a great addition to the tale. Watching him fight and see how powerful he is and how powerful love is was great. Seeing his thoughts, views and feelings showed his depth and that he wasn’t just a one dimensional greedy person like his dad. He had emotions, was loyal and kind. He wanted what was right for the people working for him and his family and those around him. And his protection and love for Elle shines through. His love for his friends is a beacon and grounds him as well. But his parents man they are pieces of work. What his dad does is just horrendous. The story is a nice fun twist to the Cinderella tale and we are left wondering what that dark elf and Elle’s and Alec’s family is up to. We get both Alec’s and Elle’s view and I liked Alec’s more only because it gets us to truly see who Alec is and what he really thinks about things. The story engages you and draws you into the twisted and entertaining take on the Cinderella tale.

So, while I did not read the previous books in this series, it was easy for me to just enjoy this story. Then the second half sped up and there seemed to be too much information that needed to be introduced and shockingly, got shoved into the last few chapters. What I would have liked was if some of the slower pacings, in the beginning, is shortened/cut and giving the ending more pages and words to shine. There is so much more space for improvement, which means that this series can be so much bigger and better than it already is. The grammar in this book had me irritated at one point, and the last couple of chapters were horrible when it came to grammatical errors. If you can look past this, you should still be able to enjoy the read. But, for me, this grated on my brain a lot. #GrammarNerd! The characters were awesome, unique in their own respect and had distinguishable voices for the most part. We read the story from the dual perspective of Elle and Alec, jumping between narrative with chapter headers, so you can easily keep track of the story this way. Overall, if you love fairy tales and retellings of classics, you would enjoy this series for sure. I’m definitely looking into getting the rest of the books in this series, as this is a unique take on the fairy tale realm integrated with the ‘real world’.

I've been a huge Elle+Alec fan for a while now. The two of them have always been funny together, and I just wanted Elle to get her happily every after. That's why I was so excited for this book! I was amazed that he would be so determined to find Elle again after their first encounter. He was so sweet, I just wanted to grab him and hug him forever. Elle is not as open and the cover pretty much sums up her personality. Rebellious, spunky, and a bit closed off. Watching her barriers fall around Alec was one of the most exciting things to read. I loved how Christina Bauer gave Alec and Elle a background. I got to meet other sides to them that weren't shown in the other books. It seems like Elle had the ideal parents, and I'm sad they fell prey to the Cinderella template. Alec's home life was less than ideal, and I was sad that a guy like him had to deal with that. The thing that made this book so great was how they could overcome that, outsmart others, and stick together. Overall, I think this has been the best book in the series yet, which makes me so excited for the next Elle + Alec book. Hopefully there will be more adventure, romance, and happiness for these two.

Elle is no ordinary Cindarella nor is Alec an ordinary Prince Charming. Both have issues, yes and both have family problems, but will they finally be able to get together? Well, it's either that or something bad is going to happen. It was really nice to read about Elle and Alec, going back to earlier years to get the whole story. Elle and Alec have separate chapters so we get to be inside both their heads (and believe you me, it was fun!) Character development was good, and in my opinion, it was just because the author was able to go into the past for a bit so we could get the big picture, the reason why they do certain stuff or why they have such hopes and fears. Throw in some Bry and Knox and well, what more do you want? :) Pacing and flow were good with a nice balance between the conversations and all the action. This instalment spans a few years but as a reader, you didn't feel the story was being rushed, but rather told in its own pace. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable read! Though the series is not done yet, it does feel like a big story arc has finished. I'm very curious to know what the next book will be about :) If you like fairytales with a twist and with some clean romance added to it, look no further, this is the series for you!

Elle and Alec's story is finally here! This is the fourth book in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series, which I personally love to pieces. It's funny, witty and endlessly sarcastic which provides many fun-filled, fairytale-themed antics. Not to mention that if she and Alec even dare to kiss it might start a magical war. We've hardly learned about Elle's troubled past with her step-family in previous books but we finally get the some of the background details we've been clamoring for. With the help of her best friends, Elle must challenge the mold in order to get the happy ending she will define for herself. In addition to a wonderful story, the author a page-turning adventure that is sure to leave you with a book hangover the demands the next installment of the series. Hopefully we won't have to wait long. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

She builds up a sturdy foundation through her clever thievery so that when the time comes for her to play poor Cinderella to her step-mother and step-sisters, she can ditch out, hide and live a life on her own. And that's exactly what she does. She's so good at it that she even ends up at a well respected high school. Everything is running splendidly until she meets her supposed prince charming. Then, the real trouble begins. This is a fun twist on the original Cinderella tale...and I do mean twist. Elle is a gem. She's loving, kind and everything a princess needs to be—and even packs an extraordinary amount of fairy magic—but she's super clever, too. When it comes to jewels and theft, that is. Still, it's hard not to root for her in every way because she has a lot to swing. It's a cute, quick paced read, which is sure to draw in all fairy tale and magic fans. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it quite a bit. So, I'm leaving my honest thoughts.

I don't know how she manages to have just so many stories to tell all the time, and how they all come out so good, but I'm glad for it! I enjoyed the story line, it was great to finally find out the story behind Alex and Ella. The thing that frustrated me was the mistakes in the editing as on some occasions the characters got confused as instead of using Ella's name the author used Briar's name and there were some spelling/grammar errors. Other then that, I can't wait to read the next book yo see where it goes and I've really enjoyed the previous books.

There was only one thing about the plot that I didn’t like, and that was the beginning was slow-paced, leisure and took its time with development.

The ending has you wonder about one of her stepsisters though. What power does she hold within that no one knows.

Elle and Alec's story is finally here! This is the fourth book in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series, which I personally love to pieces.

Elle is no ordinary Cindarella nor is Alec an ordinary Prince Charming. Both have issues, yes and both have family problems, but will they finally be able to get together?

I'm so sad because I loved Slippers and Thieves unfortunately didn't work for me. Alec and Elle are so perfect for each other and so easy to explain. Alec is the funny and sweet guy who isn't afraid to tell Elle how he felt.
