Blood Witch

Availability: Ready to download

I thought turning 18 would make me a free witch, but now I am staring a death sentence in the face... I should have listened to my uncle when he told me not to go to that party, but it was the party of the century. And I had spent way too much time being the mopey emo witch girl whose parents had died serving "the man". I wanted to let loose. But I didn't take the risks I thought turning 18 would make me a free witch, but now I am staring a death sentence in the face... I should have listened to my uncle when he told me not to go to that party, but it was the party of the century. And I had spent way too much time being the mopey emo witch girl whose parents had died serving "the man". I wanted to let loose. But I didn't take the risks seriously. Not all paranormals are good, and many have sinister plans best served by an unsuspecting witch who had a lot too much to drink. Next I know it, I am begging for my life after having been turned into an abomination against my will; an illegal blood witch who is too dangerous to live. All I can hope is that the fact that my father died in the service of the very people that hold my fate in their hands now still means something to them. And they will show me mercy. Though, going to their academy to be trained to die just the same as he did is a rough definition of mercy. One-click this Young Adult Urban Fantasy novel perfect for fans of 13 Ways to Midnight and Shadowspell Academy. ***This is an upper YA/NA crossover with sexy paranormal guys and is best suited for age 16 and over. DNF At 23% This book had a lot going for it! The story sounds interesting and everything started at a steady pace from the beginning but I just can't get over a few small but very important things. 1) The writing style. Maybe it just isn't for me and if that's the case I'll gladly admit defeat. However, the lack of contractions anywhere was hard to swallow. The lack of contractions in the dialogue killed me. Everything including the main character's inner monologue sounded robotic and rehearsed. DNF At 23% This book had a lot going for it! It's just not what I want a novel from the point of view of an 18-year-old girl to sound like. 2) This book would have really benefited from another round or two of grammar editing. I'm not a stickler for grammar. I can overlook a lot but this book pushed me to the edge and kept right on going. Lastly, 3) In what world does the main character live in to be this naive and just plain stupid when going out "clubbing". The first rule of clubbing is to not accept pre-opened drinks and/or drinks that you haven't personally opened or seen the bartender open/pour. Does she not have access to movies, tv shows or books? How come Vivi never told her this? Women should look out for women. What can I say I like a sprinkle of realism with my fantasy.

Great Start! This book hits the ground running. It explains the history as it goes but it can be difficult if you don't read paranormal books often. But the story is good. It gets intense toward the end. Then leaves you wanting the next book. Which is what it's supposed to do. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Promising It is a good story, but needs major proof reading. Before deep feelings for the angel, there should at least be more interaction.
